How to give constructive feedback
- ask permission
- be specific
- don’t give interpretations but only describe your observation
- start with ‘I feel’; stay away from moral judgement
- don’t give advise and don’t trying to persuade the other person
How to receive feedback
- listen actively to who ever is giving you feedback
- focus on understanding the feedback instead of reacting or defending yourself
- ask questions about the feedback so that the feedback becomes as specific as possible
- ask the person who’s giving you feedback what he felt was effective and what wasn’t
- don’t turn feedback into a debate, accept the feedback for what it’s worth
